2013 WALK SCHEDULE
Notes:
-
Our events take
place unless
weather presents
a danger to the
participants
either while
walking or
getting to the
start point.
-
It is important
to stay
hydrated.
Please bring
water to drink during
ALL walks.
-
If you have not
walked in
awhile, please
do not start off
trying to walk
the
10K distance for
a Club Walk, but walk
the 5K instead.
Or start off by
doing a Fun
Walk, which is
usually around 3
miles or less.
|
|
|
For club walks, you
can either walk a 5K
(3.1 miles) or a 10K
(6.2 miles).
The "walk alert"
will provide the
different start
times.
There are three
"types" of
walks—Fun, Club, and
Regular Event:
1.
The
Fun Walk is a walk
for fun, and will
not garner AVA/IVV
credit. It may
be of any distance
the planner chooses,
and there is no fee.
2.
A
Club Walk is a walk
done as a club
activity using an
YRE (Year Round
Event) as the walk
route. Those
who are collecting
AVA/IVV stamps in
their books can get
credit for these
walks for a $3.00
fee.
For
YREs, you can walk
it at any time and
earn AVA credit for
your books. Just
go to the walk box,
pick up a map, fill
out all the
paperwork, stamp
your books, and do
the walk, then mail
your check in the
envelope provided.
Walk boxes are
located in Alcoa,
Clinton, Ft.
Loudoun, Gatlinburg,
Knoxville,
Maryville, Oak
Ridge, Rogersville,
and Townsend.
Click on the YRE
links in the table
above for directions
to the walk box.
3.
The
Regular Event is a
special walk set up
as a one-day event
for AVA/IVV credit.
Given our club
State Park Walk
Challenge, most of
the Regular Events
are done in State
Parks in Eastern
Tennessee. The
fee is $3.00 to
stamp your books,
and there may be an
additional
"optional" fee for a
patch or a lapel
pin.
